Baffled with regular incidents of chain, wallet and mobile snatching in the State Capital, Ranchi police will now work on a multi-pronged strategy after conducting thorough mapping of the areas, targets, timing, modus operandi etc. of the incidents taking place in the recent days and ensure that the culprits are caught immediately after committing the crime.
“Besides making a change in police patrolling, mapping of the areas, targets, timing, modus operandi and the vehicles used in it is being done on the basis of incidents which took place in the last few months in order to get a thorough understanding of it following which action will be taken in a strategic way to check such incidents,” said SP City, Aman Kumar. Tracking of old criminals having earlier records of snatching has also been started in order to reach out to the culprits, he added.
“Meanwhile, intensive search drive has been launched to nab the culprits on the basis of the statements recoded by the victims and identifying registration number of bikes which were involved in the incidents,” said the SP. He also appealed to people to be more alert and immediately inform the police so that action could be taken against them on time.
“In most of the cases, people report us after 2-3 hours of the incident, giving culprits enough time to run away from the area or the city. They should inform us early so that we can act on time by barricading the area,” the SP said. People must also keep the phone numbers of local police or control room with them, so that they do not have to look for someone to make a call for them, he added.
Meanwhile, a constant vigil on the criminals released on bail in snatching cases is also being kept so that they could be nabbed as soon as such incidents of snatching takes place in a particular area,” said the SP.
Incidents of snatching of mobile and money have been on the rise in the last few days in the State Capital as such cases are being reported almost every day.
