PNS

Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Poddar has said that there is a need to improve the methods of selection and implementation of urban development schemes in Jharkhand. Poddar has written a letter to Chief Secretary Dr DK Tiwari and has urged him to intervene in these cases.

The MP has said that there is lack of end and end connectivity in drains constructed along the roads in the State, due to which dirty water is stored in these drains. He has said that the expenses incurred in this type of project is useless and such haphazard constructions pose question mark on the efficiency of the officers/engineers involved in the project.

Poddar has said that the size of utility ducts alongside the proposed smart roads from Birsa Munda Airport to Birsa Chowk and Birsa Chowk to Raj Bhawan. He cited example of just three feet wide ducts in Bangalore and other cities and has urged to follow the same.

Poddar wanted to know why the Government is making such expensive smart roads on priority basis, while the priority should be to get rid of waterlogging across the city and proper drinking water for the citizens.

The MP has suggested that there should be a meeting with experienced people under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary with respect of such schemes, in which meaningful discussions on the expenditure, profit-loss and utility of these schemes could be done. After the meeting, the government should be made aware that such schemes are actually in the public interest or need changes in it. The final decision is to be taken by the Government only, he said.
