Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Poddar has demanded a high-level inquiry into the implementation of the Sewerage-Drainage project of Ranchi and he has also urged to repair the distorted roads which got damaged due to the project and make them accessible. Poddar has written a letter to the Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Ajoy Kumar Singh in this regard.
Poddar said that Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has recommended terminating the agency executing the sewerage project. “On the other hand, the agency has asked for expansion of the term. It is clear from the recommendation of the corporation to terminate the agency that the implementation of the scheme was not done properly. In such a situation, it is more important than the termination of the agency or extension of the period, that there is a high level of inquiry into the implementation of the project,” he added.
Poddar said that while lodging an objection to the process of implementation of this project and the irregularities being undertaken, many letters were written by me to State Minister for Urban Development CP Singh, demanded for investigation, but these letters were not received. “So no responses were given in a responsible manner nor was the recommendation of high level inquiry respected. This raises the apprehension that the agency implementing this project is protected by some powerful people and the engineers and office bearers of the department are also involved in it,” he added.
Poddar has urged the team to investigate the project. “The road in my locality was made in collaboration with the people and the corporation. The areas where the work of the sewerage was not completed, the condition of those parts is much better than those parts of the road, which has been restored after laying the sewerage line” he added.
