Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) on Thursday said that the Government wants to end agricultural mandis across the Country to benefit its businessmen friends and also trying by abolishing Minimum Support Price (MSP) to save Rs one lakh crore.

Addressing a virtual press rally JPCC In Charge, RPN Singh said that the three bills related to agriculture got passed by the Central Government by violating the parliamentary tradition, will eliminate 40 lakh mandis of the country, which will cause a lot of loss to the poor farmers, because 86 per cent farmers have less than five acres of land and 60 per cent farmers do agricultural work on less than 2 acres of land in the Country.

“In such a situation, by abolishing the necessity of MSP in the new law, the farmers will be forced to bow before the corporate house. The BJP wants to implement the recommendation of the Shanta Kumar Committee's report, which states that the abolition of MSP can save Rs One lakh crore to the Central Government, the BJP-led Government is working on this agenda,” said Singh

The party State In-Charge said that even though the Prime Minister has been repeatedly saying that the MSP will not be abolished, why the Government is not making provision in the law regarding it. Their intent is clear, he added.

Singh recalled the Prime Minister's assurances which he had given in the past and said that Modi had also said earlier that everyone would get Rs 15 lakh, two crore youth would get jobs in a year, but it proved only a jumla. He said that the BJP is also trying to spread the illusion that the Congress party had decided to take a similar step, it is completely baseless, the Congress party has only taken up the problems of the far-flung farmers and necessary initiative in the direction was assured.

Announcing the future plan of the party Singh said that against the decision of the Central Government, the party has decided to run a nationwide campaign till November.

“Under this, all the leaders and workers of the party will raise the voice of farmers through social media under the Speech Up for Famers on September 26. On March 28, after the dharna in front of the statue of Gandhiji at the State headquarters, the Raj Bhavan march will be organised and a memorandum will be submitted to the President through the Governor. On October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi and Shastri birth anniversary, senior party leaders will go to the districts to participate in the protest rally.

On October 10, there will be a demonstration at the State headquarters. Apart from this, a nationwide signature campaign will be conducted from October 2 to 30,” he added.
