The women’s special autos are likely to hit the city road on Republic Day. As many as six pink autos are expected to ferry on the roads on this auspicious occasion.
The Manger of Rajmani Property Sanjay Sahu who has conceived the plan as a part of its social responsibility initiative sharing the information about the same said, “We are all set to launch the much awaited pink autos on this auspicious occasion. As many as three autos are already in the town and in the couple of days all the autos painting work will also be done. However, who will flag off the launch is yet to decide.”
As many as 20 women residing at the interior areas of the town and are suffering from acute financial crisis have been trained by the corporation. Explaining the reason behind delay in launching the plan Sahu added, “Women who were selected for training mostly hails from an economically weak background. Moreover, driving a vehicle is completely a new experience for them and it requires time to get perfection on it.”
Meanwhile, the corporation members also held a meeting with Traffic SP Rajeev Ranjan Singh regarding licenses of the women. “launch of pink auto is a good initiative in the direction of ensuring women security in commuting from one place to another. We have assured them to extend all possible help in this direction,” said Ranjan.
He further added that women being illiterate are the biggest hurdle in obtaining the license. The discussion over this is going on within the administration and expected to come up with the concrete solution soon.
No routes have been fixed for the women special autos. A women driver can take the auto anywhere. Sunita Kumari who has taken training for the same said, “I am waiting for the day when pink autos will be flagged off. For about six months we have consistently seeking training from the corporation and are excited to see our efforts on road.”
The plan is to ply as many as 50 pink autos on Ranchi roads in the long-run. The corporation will increase its number only after looking the response of the commuters.
