Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy assured the House that the Government would ensure price of sugar through PDS below the market rate and provide subsidy after the tendering process is over.
Replying to a question of Viranchi Narayan, the Minister said that bids are invited and based on the rate quoted by the selected supplier the Government can make announcement for subsidy on its part.
“We cannot preempt the rate to be quoted. We would also study rates in the neighbouring States before finalising the price,” said Roy. Center has been fixed price of the commodity at Rs 18.50 per kg.
