The comfort of driving on the city roads turns into a nightmare for the motorist when the vehicles reach the stretch of Mission Chowk to Karbala Chowk. The State Government is busy in re-carpeting smooth stretches while ignoring roads that need attention.
The State Government’s work of strengthening and widening of roads is drawing sharp criticism from people who term the action as a way of eating up the funds before the end of a financial year hurriedly. The reconstruction of road near Suchana Bhawan which was constructed a year ago and the re-carpeting of stretch from Sanik Theater Chowk to Karamtoli Chowk make people mock at the sum spend on the roads.
A shopkeeper at lalpur Chowk Harish Prasad Singh sniggering at the ongoing work commented, “I am not able to understand why the government is showing keen interest in constructing smooth roads while neglecting the shabby roads of the city. Instead they should focus in repairing the stretch from Karamtoli upto RIMS as they require more attention.”
The roads behind Sai temple which leads to Kanke Road, from Bariatu Joda Talab to Old HB road upto NH-33, from Jain Mandir to Bada talab road are some of the popular spots which require immediate attention of the concerned department as the commuters face inconvenience driving on these roads.
Prabhat Kujur explaining his ordeal with the pothole road said, “A couple of weeks ago when I was returning from Pandra market to Kanke road at night looking the traffic congestion at Ratu Road. I chose to go for the shortcut and turn my bike handle towards the Sai temple road, the stretch will lead to Kanke road. The road was full of potholes and driving on it was like a challenge to me. Each moment I was reeling under the impression that I am about to fall with much difficulty I completed my journey and landed on smooth road.” Not only Kujur there are many other who face the same scenario and Government is sitting with close eyes.
