Several eligible candidates, who have qualified the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) and gone through counseling at their respective district headquarters, have yet not received their appointment letters even after the several rounds of counselling has been completed. A large number of successful candidates so far have not received appointment letter from the concerned authorities and the process is still lingering as in many districts the counseling is yet not completed.

Citing details about the delay in dispatching the appointment letters of all eligible TET candidates, Secretary School Education and literacy, Aradhana Patnaik said, “Due to panchayat polls, appointment letters were not sent to the candidates as concerned people were involved in panchayat polls. The entire process will be finalised by December 15. Approximately 11,000 teachers so far have been selected. Moreover, in the District Committee meeting everything will be finalised. We have contacted all the District Commissioners to finalise the entire process as soon as possible.”

“After the appointments, School education and literacy department will also organise training sessions for the candidates. Almost 80 per cent work has been completed in this procedure,” added Patnaik.

On the other hand, several District Education Officers are citing their own reasons for the delay in dispatching the appointment letters. “The last counseling will be completed on December 13 and when the entire process gets over we are suppose to dispatch all appointment letters. There are several criteria on which we are checking the candidates’ eligibility. Total 927 seats are there for TET passed candidates in our districts and 57 per cent work has been completed for the purpose. We are also facing challenge as many people have applied for the post in more than five districts,” said District Superintendent of Education (DSE) of Hazaribagh, Shivendra Kumar. Similarly, DSE of Pakur District, Arun Kumar informed that, “Due to panchayat polls, we are facing delay in dispatching appointment letters of TET passed candidates. Moreover, the deadline of this has been extended to December 15 and before that few more counselling are scheduled for candidates.”
