Police bought and delivered medicine for a senior citizen at Mohammadganj in Palamu after first getting this medicine in Ranchi, which is 170 kilometers away from Daltonganj and then again sent it to Mohammadganj another 70 kilometers away from Daltonganj and that helped the man in a big way.
The recipient of the medicine Karanveer Buxrai of Mohammadganj had too many words of praise for State police and officials. Buxrai expressed his gratitude through twitter to all.
Faizan Ahmad of Bhai Bigha under Haidernagar police station too got his medicine from police and he too thanked Palamu police. “Such services which DGP MV Rao has got launched in Jharkhand on April 29 give us a kind of great satisfaction as there cannot be anything more satisfying than to reach a senior citizen his/ her medicine that he/she cannot find for himself/herself,” said SP Palamu Ajay Linda.
IG (Human Rights) Navin Kumar Singh said, “In just seven days from the start of this facility for senior citizens, loners etc there has been 101 requests for medicines and ambulances and Jharkhand police have taken pains to come to the expectation of the callers.”
The IG said our catering percentage is more than 95 per cent and where the delay is it is because of non-availability of medicines. Police try to be at senior citizens’ door steps without any unjustified delay, he added.
Linda said, “We got a call from a village of Palamu near Chatra border and then our nodal officer Sandip Kumar Gupta pressed in one ASI to buy the medicine for the villager, which was for treatment of jaundice and within 40 minutes our ASI was racing on a four wheeler for this village near Chatra border a distance of 60 kilometers or so with the medicine bought for the villager.” Gupta said, “Dial 100 is for urgency. I request all citizens of Palamu not to misuse or abuse it or give us any fake call. It will then defeat its noble purpose and goal.”
The IG said in 7 days that they found there were more calls for medicines like 77 while for ambulances there were just 24 calls which meant people are trying to get well at home rather than pushing for the hospital where fear of Covid 19 just lurks around.
The 7 day State police note showed Koderma and Hazaribag districts’ zero performance on medicine/ ambulance count, to which one SP belonging to Koderma Ehtesham Waquarib on being telephoned by this correspondent said “ I owe MD degree in community medicine and I wish our people should contact me on phone for medical advice.”
He said his district police would make this facility for senior citizens a household name very soon.
Sources said all facilities like cost of medicines and ambulances if not of 108 are to be met with by the caller as police will be just a facilitator only.
