Palamu cops set up check posts

PNS

Palamu police’s hands are full as there are civic elections at three places -  Medininagar, Chhaterpur and Hussainabad - while Garhwa police are to handle the election at two places - Garhwa and Nagar Untari - and latehar police are  happier to have election at just one place - latehar.

Sources said, SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha has asked his four DSPs to be on guard. DSP Hussainabad Manoj k Mahto said 5 check posts have been set up to keep any eye on entries from Bihar on April 16 when for 29 booths18,894 voters will be casting their votes.

These police check posts will start functioning from April 14.

DSP Mahto said Bihar’s two police stations; Tandwa and Nabinagar have been urged to co-ordinate with Jharkhand’s Hussainabad police during the voting day, as proximity of Hussainabad to Bihar is such that people come here for myriad things, but all such entry of people from Bihar on the day of voting will be restricted, if genuine reasons for coming over here are not given to the satisfaction of the police of Hussainabad.

Hussainabad and Bihar share many things and such infiltration on voting day is most feared which will be curbed.

Similarly, DSP Chhaterpur Shambhu kumar Singh said since Chhaterpur is on NH 98 and hence our vigil is most. Singh said our farthest booth from Chhaterpur police station is at 8 km distance and hence manning and managing it is no problem at all.

The two recent bandhs on supreme court rulings with regard to SC ST act will have no bearing upon this civic polls here he reiterated.

DSP Hussainabad Manoj k Mahto said the farthest booth in Hussainabad is barely 4 Kms away from Hussainabad police station and so there is no problem there too except intrusion from Bihar.

Chhaterpur has 24 booths with 17,110 voters out of which female voters are 7,827 only.
