Palamu Commissioner bats for land for NPU

PNS

Palamu Divisional Commissioner NK Mishra is fighting hard for land for the Nilamber Pitamber University. Sources said the Commissioner shot-off a letter to the principal secretary of Revenue and land Reforms of the State Government.

The Pioneer, which accessed the letter, requests the Government to do the needful as the NPU will be five-year-old come January 17 since its establishment in 2009. It has been running since then in a temporary premises on rent. The Commissioner in his missive has pleaded for a free transfer of land worth 41.05 acres at the Hisra locality on Daltonganj Betla road, 12 kms off Daltonganj town.

The Commissioner has put forward his views that there is no inter departmental issue in the transfer of land but a simple transfer of land from Water Resources Department to the University and that too sans any fee but a total free transfer after obtaining first an NOC from the Department. The land measuring 41.05 acre is of the Department and hence an NOC is a prerequisite. The university has 23 crores of fund from the government for campus development but not a pie for land purchasing at all, reads the letter of the Commissioner.

The Commissioner has cut into the recommendation of the Palamau DC, who in his recommendation of this land, spoke of inter-departmental transfer which the Commissioner set right by arguing that no inter-departmental transfer issue is involved rather it is a  transfer from the Water Resources Department to the NPU. NK Mishra is also officiating as the VC of the university.
