District administration teams have disposed of 109 bodies under the guidelines laid down by the ICMR for body disposal here in Dhanbad since outbreak of Covid 19.
Interestingly , out of these only 45 deaths have been reported directly due to Corona .The remaining died of other causes and later while the Swab was tested were found corona positive thus were disposed as per the ICMR protocol.
The first disposal was of a Muslim corona poaitive in Dhanbad who was buried in a separate grave under full ICMR protocol and family members were allowed just to witness the burrial . The team of the health department and administration were present during burial.
Later on administration fixed a separate cremation ground at Amjhar locality under Baliapur police station where cremations are carried out .The locals had protested the cremations but later the issue was resolved.
District surveillance officerDr RK Singh who is keeping tab of corona cases in Dhanbad said , majority of 66 deaths , out of those who were found corona positive post death died primarily due to critical illness relating to heart, kidney problems, respiratory problems besides road accidents or had committed suicide.
These were found corona positive after death thus had to be cremated as per Covid protocols.
Out of the 44 deaths of those who were admitted for corona treatment at corona dedicated hospitals only 26 died due to massive corona . The remaining had other illnesses too including respiratory problems,some died due to brain stroke and cardiac failure.Corona aggregated the problem that led to their deaths.
However , these too were disposed of as per ICMR protocols, he said.
Reports suggest that the administration is spending over Rs 4000 on disposal of one body .
