Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey visited Basia in Gumla district on Thursday. The annual income of every woman associated with this women's committee has reached 40 thousand, which is a living example of self-employment and making oneself self-reliant today.
The Minister said that there is a lot of demand for both eggs and chicken in the market. This work of the sisters associated with the Mahila Samiti of Basia in Gumla district needs to be adopted by the sisters associated with the Mahila Samiti of other districts. The Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation will also provide all possible help in this. It is very important to have a nodal officer in this business of egg production and poultry farming by the department, so that the department can monitor this business by expanding it and providing government assistance.
Tirkey took information about the construction of 220 sheds instead of 600 under the Johar project. She said that the women associated with the committee can be directly benefited by giving them the shed scheme under subsidy. The Minister, while encouraging the sisters of Banai and Jolo villages of Basia, said that their work is being discussed in other districts and even in other states. With time, it needs to be made more systematic and employment oriented. There can be no better employment than this while living in one's own village, one's own home, among one's family.
