Following the tragic death of devotees at Deoghar the Government came under heavy attack from the Opposition parties on Monday. leader of Opposition Hemant Soren termed the Government insensitive, while the Congress demanded resignation of Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

“The Government and its administration have failed completely in managing affairs at Deoghar. They did not take the event seriously despite there are two Ministers from the area and one MP of the BJP belongs to Deoghar. looking at the incident it can be said that the Government has developed zero sensitivity towards cause of the common man,” said Soren addressing a press conference on Monday.

Soren also did not buy the argument that the unforeseen rush of devotees came for worship on the second somwari of the month. “The place where the accident has happened is about 10 kms away from the temple. Roads are amply wide there. Devotees have been coming in large number from years. We have been in the Government and earlier as well never such incident has taken place at Deoghar,” he said.

Hemant also cited example of poor electricity condition, traffic management in the area and bad state of hospitals to drive home his point. When asked about ‘VIP Darshan’, the system is also considered a contributory factor into the incident, Soren fumbled.

“VIP system was earlier as well. Arrangements are made for VIPs. It has no connection with the incident. The question here that the Government has left the State into the God’s hand,” added the loP. He also questioned the probe ordered by the CM and termed it as am attempt to save the real culprits behind the incident. The party also sought to hike the compensation from `2 lakh to `5 lakh.

Congress other hand also held the Government liable for the tragedy. “It is a clear case of mismanagement from the part of the Government. How they can ignore the preparedness of such an important event. The Chief Minister should resign immediately,” said PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat.
