Nowadays onion has become a symbol of inflation that is why I am giving onion to my sisters as a gift of raksha bandhan. This was the reply of MP Yashwant Sinha when the newsmen asked about giving onions to the women wing members of the party.
On Friday, a special programme of raksha bandhan was organised by the members of BJP’s women wing at Atal Bhawan, Hazaribagh. Since Yashwant Sinha was at Hazaribagh so he also participated in the program along with her wife Neelima Sinha, son Jayant Sinha, District President Tunnu Gope, Ex-President Shankar lal Gupta and others.
The members of women wing including their District President Vijul Devi, Shweta Sinha, Pushpa Tirkey and others tied rakhi on the wrists of Yashwant and others. After tying rakhi they demanded their gift and then Sinha started distributing one onion to each women party member.
I thought that the present price hike of onion has made it precious for the women because it is a necessary item of every kitchen so when I got the invitation of Raksha Bandhan then bought some onions to gift our sisters as it is more precious than gold and silver nowadays, says Yashwant.
He said that he and his party is regularly raising voice both inside and outside the Parliament against the failures of this Government. Price hike of onion is also a failure and our party is continuously raising voice against this but the Government has become deaf and dumb and is not ready to initiate any curative measure to give relief to the common man for whom onion is more important than silver and gold.
