Old acquaintance shoots woman in Daltonganj

PNS

An old acquaintance shot at a woman in Daltonganj. She is undergoing treatment in a super speciality hospital in Daltonganj.

It was not any case of gatecrashing or storming into the lady's house as overplayed by a large section of social media.

The acquaintance used to visit her and she too knew him well and for long but today around 10.15 am the acquaintance shot at her. It was a surprise turn of events.

SDPO Mani Bhushan Prasad said, "We have begun an investigation. The assailant and the victim woman know each other. Rather there was a time when this acquaintance and one more relative of his were tenants in the house of the victim woman Meenakchi Goswami, 37."

Some grudge, some grievance or some long standing animosity could be one of the reasons behind this shootout.

This case got blown up as just 9 days ago a lady Namita Devi was shot dead in broad daylight in Daltonganj when she was sitting in a sweet shop on February 7.

Town police busted this case and sent 4 in judicial remand. It also recovered the weapon used in crime.

Here in the Namita Devi murder case there were no unidentified people. All knew the woman Namita Devi and Namita Devi too knew each of them.

This daylight murder of Namita Devi had pushed the town police back to the wall but police made a spectacular comeback in the case in the shortest possible time.

SP Reeshma Ramesan formed SIT under the SDPO Mani Bhushan Prasad and the new man Prasad just worked hard and got the case unfolded.

Prasad had all the words of credit for his captain of the Palamu police Reeshma Ramesan.

Again just 9 days later another woman got shot at. Meenakchi Goswami was at her house and had no inkling of what fate had in store for her today.

Two of her acquaintances Santosh Goswami and Golu Goswami visited her today. There was no barging in the house.

There took place a brief conversation ending up in shoot out.

Was this a deliberate bid on her life or her assailant just trained his illicit weapon at her with which bullet got out?

SDPO Mani Bhushan Prasad said "It would be too premature to jump to any conclusion. Let come the FIR. It may make things more clear."

Till the time of reporting there is no detention or arrest.
