Nilamber Pitamber university union leaders on Thursday forced a senior Dean (name withheld) of the university who is to retire in a few weeks time to go out from the chamber of VC A N Ojha and the Dean just moved out of the VC’s chamber with head high.
Sources said the way one of the functionaries of the union was shouting and using threatening language was not befitting to any elected member of the university union leader.
The same functionary had asked pro VC, proctor and assistant registrar of the university to move out from the chamber but it was the Dean who went out.
The union leaders had a volley of demands. They first took up the cause of the Ph.D aspirants and the VC made them understand the intricacy of the issue. The union leaders looked convinced.
Sources said the union leaders then raised the issue of their union office in the GlA college and here the university students’ union president R D Pandey said
‘The earmarked union office is not inhabitable. There is a long queue of termites on the walls. There is nothing that can qualify this space to be called as any union office’.
VC Ojha told the leaders that the concerned GlA college has been given fund for union office there and it is his prime task to ensure that the office is like an office. Pro VC Bijay Singh even telephoned the professor in charge of GlA college and asked him to do the needful.
The union leaders then suggested some courses like naxalism, water harvesting, solar power etc to be incorporated in the syllabus of the university to which the university officials assured them that this suggestion would be placed before the academic council which is the highest body for deciding or inclusion of any new course.
One functionary Prakash even suggested a revision of syllabus of History which was welcomed by the VC and his team of officials there.
Sources said the union leaders just lost their cool when they pressed the VC to give in writing as to by what date/time their volley of demands would be met with.
Sources said the VC told the leaders that since the regular registrar is on an official visit to Ranchi.
And once he comes back there will be a written assurance on the volley of demands. And here the leaders broke loose.
