DRM Vijay Kumar Gupta along with other senior officials of Ranchi Railway Division launched Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile application here on Wednesday. Notably, UTS is an Indian Railways mobile ticketing application, which allows the passengers to book unreserved tickets. People using Android or Windows Operating System (OS) on their smart phones can avail this facility.
Platform tickets, normal booking, season tickets including quick booking can be done through this mobile application. The officials present during the launch programme stated that with the launch of this mobile application, now the daily travelers do not need to wait in the long queue for booking tickets at the booking counters of the railway station.
Sharing the details of booking rail tickets with UTS app, the DRM said, “The users need to login www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in and enter all essential details like name, mobile number, ID card number etc. After completing the registration process, one time password will be generated on the registered mobile number of the respective customer. A Railway wallet (R-wallet)
icon will be created automatically. Maximum Rs 10,000 can be kept in the R-Wallet while booking can be done for four persons at a time.”
Further, explaining about the two options for booking tickets through the mobile application, Gupta added, “After clicking on R-wallet, two options will appear.
The first option will be of paperless ticket and the second option will be of printed ticket. If the user is within the radius of 5 Km from the station then the person can use the paperless option.
Ticket will be downloaded directly to the mobile through ticket booking option. The second option of a print paper can be used if the user is far away from the railway station. After booking the ticket through this option, the user will need to print it.”
R-wallet can be recharged through Pay TM, online banking or credit / debit card. However, the officials during the press meet stated that advance booking facility including cancellation of tickets cannot be done through this mobile application.
