Jharkhand is all set to score another first by making available affordable lED bulbs through PDS shops across the State. Making a reviewing of the Energy Department, Chief Minister Raghubar Das directed the officials to make necessary arrangements for that.

“lED bulbs should be provided through PDS shops. In the first phase, it should be started from Ranchi district,” said the Chief Minister on Tuesday. Notably, the State under the Ujjala scheme of the Centre has opened centres in different towns for making available energy efficient bulbs, tube lights and fans at lesser cost.

The CM, at the same time, also reiterated providing power within a timeframe to the investors willing to invest in Jharkhand. “If an investor from the State wants to invest in making transformers in the state, he should be given priority. It will simplify the storage of transformers.  The Department should also deal strictly with illegal electricity connections.”

He also made it clear that entire State must be electrified before December, 2018.  “Transmission line and sub-station construction should run simultaneously. GMs should give engineers timeframe to complete the work. Police will assist in storing and securing things in remote areas where transmission work is in progress. Work should be resumed in the areas where survey is completed. Action should be taken against contractors not showing development in the work given and blacklisted.”

The CM was informed that 10,140 transformers have been metered already to stop power theft in the State. GIS Consumer Induction and Asset Mapping have been completed for 30 towns. “We are working on strengthening the supply chain in timely manner so that work can be completed on time. An official of the concerned company can be deputed for this purpose. Godowns would be increased for storing things and proper inspection work at least once a week would be conducted,” said an official present in the meeting.

The CM also reviewed various transmission lines under Pt Deendayal Gram Jyoti Yojana. He said that survey, design and alignment of Chandankyari-Jainamore, Chandankyari-Gobindpur, Bahragora-Dalbhumgarh, Itkhori-Chatra, Ratu-Kanke, PTPS-Ratu, Godda-lalmatia, Pakur-Sahebganj, Giridih-Jamua, Giridih-Jasidih, Godda-Dumka etc should be speeded up. He also directed the officials to take help of NABARD, REC, PFC and World Bank for building transmission infrastructure.
