The indefinite strike of non-teaching staffs of the universities of Jharkhand is going to form a record as it has crossed 85 days and on April 19, it will be a three-month long strike. In the initial phase the agitating staffs have declared that they will not disturb the exams so Matric and Intermediate exams passed on peacefully but after that they changed their strategy which resulted in disruption of exam schedule.
On April 15, VC RN Bhagat sat with his officers and once again the new schedules of various exams were set. The university administration had made minor changes in its exam calendar on March 13 in a hope that the strike will be called off soon. But since the strike is going on and staffs are adamant to not support the administration so this time VBU administration made some major changes in its exam calendar.
PRO Vijay Kumar Sinha informed that the part-III 2013 exam which was scheduled to start from April 18 will now start from April 30. Fresh programme will be issued very soon for part III 2013 exam. The date of filling of examination forms for part II 2013 exam has been extended to May 6 without fine in the colleges. Fresh notification for it will be issued also, he added.
Actually in most of the colleges the process of filling of forms for part II 2013 exam has not started yet because the examination department failed to provide examination forms to the colleges. In Vinoba Bhave University the examination department has been completely paralysed by this strike
The effect of non-teaching staff strike is now clearly visible in the university campus. You will find students and guardians moving here and there to get their different certificates and finally returning without getting it every day. The examinees of part III are also worried about their future, if the university fails to give their result before June 15 they will lose the chance of getting admitted in other universities and colleges for higher studies.
Meanwhile the students union has started losing their patience. In the initial phase they supported the staffs and appealed to the Government to fulfill their genuine demands. Since the deadlock is on and students are suffering they are also preparing themselves to be on streets soon against both the employees and the government.
