A total of 51 prisoners undergoing life sentences in various jails across the state were recommended to be released during a meeting of State Remission Board held at Project Building under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. As many as 106 proposals were taken up in the meeting.
Speaking during the meeting Soren said that the board can discuss the application received by the prisoners but it cannot be considered as a right of an applicant as all aspects are to be taken into consideration before recommending someone's name for release.
