No headway in 'missing' case of Palamu girl

PNS

Paton police in Palamu is looking for a dalit girl who is under 18 and has disappeared on the night of March 24 from her house at Banjari village. Sources said there are three versions. First, she was kidnapped. Police rejected it outright. Second, she was forced to run away. And third, she on her own walked out of the house. Paton police has reasons to hold on to the last two versions, said sources.

Sources said four youths came on two bikes and took her away. The dalit girl was with her maternal grand mother.

Then came the news of a quick marriage at Chegouna Dham where sources said a girl having the same feature, physique and height appeared and got married in the quickest of marriage ceremony.

DSP H l Ravi has confirmed this incident saying circumstantial evidences indicate the dalit girl knew well with whom she was going away at night. A man post mid night also saw a girl riding a bike with a male youth the same night she had stepped out of her house.

Ravi had a point when explained “It was night. Four youths were there. On two bikes. The dalit girl was with her great grand mother. Any thing foul could have been done to this dalit girl but nothing. She just went out of the house”.

DSP added the dalit girl's parents had gone to Punjab to bring back their ailing son from there to Paton.

About the quickest marriage on March 25 at Chegouna Dham where a girl bearing features of the girl of Banjri who had so gone out was wed-locked DSP Ravi said this marriage and resemblance of features give us little doubt and more faith that the same girl who had so  walked out got herself married to one of the four who got her at night at Banjari village.

The girl is un-traced as yet. Three persons have been interrogated so far, said DSP Ravi.
