In a fresh notification to streamline traffic movement on the crowded old NH-23 (form Nayamore to Chas), entry of heavy vehicles has been banned between 9 am and 9 pm in Bokaro Steel City.
SDO Chas Satish Chandra issued a directive about ‘no entry’ for heavy and commercial vehicles has been imposed for 12 hours in the city, informed Sunil Rajwar, DSP Traffic Bokaro.
“Following the directive, traffic wing Bokaro has enforced a prohibition on entry of commercial heavy vehicles, multi-axle vehicles in the stretch between Nayamore and Chas for 12 hours in a bid to combat ‘traffic conjunctions’ and ‘jam’ like situations across the twin cities of Chas and Bokaro Steel City,” added Rajwar.
A previous ban on using this stretch from 12 pm-3 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm has been lifted, informed DSP traffic adding “this will also help in reducing the number of road accidents.”
Now with the new arrangement these commercial heavy vehicles, multi-axle vehicles on the root to Dhanbad or Purulia (WB) have been allowed only to use the newly constructed NH-23 (four lanes), he said.
In case of violation of ‘no-entry’, Rs 500 would be fined, said DSP.
