Barka gaon legislator Nirmala Devi and her son Ankit Raj reached Hazaribagh civil court on Monday to surrender in case no 228/16 registered in Barkagaon PS of Hazaribagh district. Hazaribagh police had served them a notice two days ago to surrender before the court.

After Supreme Court’s decision Hazaribagh police served the notice to MlA Nirmala Devi and her son. On Monday MlA Nirmala Devi and Ankit Raj appeared before the court with their advocates where they demanded courts order. Since the apex court order has yet not reached here so the court denied to take them in custody and directed the Government leader to first procure the order and then proceed.

The case is related with the incident of firing and clash between villagers and police happened last year. Nirmala Devi was leading the villagers against NTPCs mining activity and when she was arrested the agitated mob had forcibly released her from police custody. Police had opened fire on that day to disperse the mob.

later Nirmala Devi, her son Ankit Raj and Yogendra Sao were arrested and after about three-four months mother and son came out of jail after getting bail from Jharkhand High Court. The Jharkhand Government challenged this decision in Supreme Court and last week Supreme Court set aside the orders of Jharkhand High Court.
