Poddar writes to Union Health Minister
Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Poddar has written a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urging him to start Genome Sequencing Lab in Jharkhand at the earliest. Poddar said that due to delay in this, there is a possibility of increasing the crisis of Corona in Jharkhand. In a letter to the Union Health Minister, Poddar has said that at present all the samples from Jharkhand are being sent to Bhubaneswar for sequencing. Bhubaneswar is also carrying out the sequencing for other neighbouring states, which leads to considerable delay in getting the results. It is being told that the state government of Jharkhand had already applied for genome sequencing machines but no action was taken on that matter. Poddar said that in view of the ever-increasing threat of mutations, we should be prepared in advance. The High Court has also expressed concern in this matter. He said that for the protection of humanity, setting up of Genome Sequencing Lab in Jharkhand at the earliest is necessary.
