legislative body meetings of both the ruling NDA and the JMM-led Opposition were held on Monday evening separately and the camps decided to go ahead with their stated positions, especially on the amendments made into the land Acquisition Act.
legislators of the BJP and AJSU combine assembled at the residence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das over dinner where they were told how to counter the salvos coming from the Opposition camp during the Monsoon Session. Party chief whip Radha Krishna Kishore took the charge and informed the MlAs about the positive sides of the amendments done through the Bill already passed by the Assembly and consented by the President.
“Our strategy is going to negate the illegitimate demand of the JMM, the JVM and others about revisiting the Bill already passed. It is seen nowhere in the history of parliamentary democracy where a Bill is again discussed in the House after getting passed. They did same with the CNT-SPT Bill. After all why they don’t allow discussions to take place when the Bills are placed for debate on the floor of the HouseIJ They instead force adjournments. How it is possible nowIJ Our MlAs would be opposing and exposing the sinister game plan of theirs,” said Kishore after the meeting.
All the BJP and AJSU members have been told about responding to the questions of the media relating to the land issue and others like patthalgadi, action against activities of Christian missionaries and recent incidents taken place at Khunti.
“We are told to follow the stated position of the Government and the party. Role of missionaries have been exposed behind the disturbances at Khunti along with their involvement in child selling racket. We will be countering all the allegations coming from the Opposition inside and outside the Assembly,” said a BJP legislator revealing about the outcome of the meeting.
Opposition leaders on the other hand met at the residence of leader of Opposition Hemant Soren where Congress legislative Party leader Alamgir Alam, and member Sukhdeo Bhagat, JVM’s Pradeep Yadav and host of others remained present.
“We have decided to persist with our demand to recall the amendments taken place into the land Act. The Government, like it did in the case of the CNT-SPT amendments, would have to backtrack else there is no point allowing the House to run. If we are gagged inside the Assembly through the majority we would bring the issue on the streets of the State,” said Alam.
Besides, the Opposition has decided to raise the issue of police action against the villagers of Khunti, framing of people from a particular religion into the gang-rape case and also recent case related to the Missionaries of Charity.
“We would seek answers from the Government for it being selective, be it minorities or tribal. At the same time they chose to remain silent over MlAs defection case when there is clear evidence. Also there is no justification of bringing the Supplementary Budget soon after the Budget Session,” said Pradeep Yadav pointing out some of the major arsenals.
