Muslims should support Ram Mandir cause: Swamy

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday urged the Muslim community to come in support construction of the Ram Mandir at the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya.

"Ram mandir can only be built at the lord’s birth place in Ayodhya where the structure of a temple was found at the disputed site.  The Archaeological Survey of India has proved that lord Ram was born there," Swamy said at a function organised by social organisation Naman to pay tribute to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Shukhdev who were hanged on this day in 1931.

Swamy added, “Even Allahabad High Court in 2003 had made it clear that the structure of a temple was found at the disputed site. Babri Masjid was built after the temple was demolished and the Hindu community has been demanding construction of the Ram temple for a long time," he said.

“We are very clear that if the issue is settled amicably, it will be all right, otherwise we will enact a law to construct a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya when we get majority in the Rajya Sabha by April, 2018," Swamy asserted.

The MP, who was asked by the Supreme Court to talk to all parties in the dispute, said he had discussions with Muslim leaders — AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and Babri Masjid Action Committee convener Zafaryab Jilani — over the issue."The Muslim leaders did not agree to a bilateral negotiation but wanted mediation of the Supreme Court," he said.

Swamy reiterated the contribution of the freedom fighters and spoke about the bombing the Central legislative Assembly by Bhagat Singh and the killing of British policeman John Saunders.

“I salute the martyrs whose contribution will always be remembered by us. India was the richest state a thousand years ago and we have to bring that time back," said Swamy while addressing the gathering..

At the Agrico transport ground Naman, organised a bike rally and a programme to remember and recall the sacrifice laid by these young freedom fighters of British India. Around 5000 bikes accompanied by horses and a couple of cars in the rally was flagged off by Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy.
