Mudra scheme a boon for Hazaribagh

RR Srivastava

It’s been almost one year now that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a much needed loan scheme for small entrepreneurs and businessmen of the country. The Central Government has named it Mudra Scheme.

In Hazaribagh, many people have applied for loan under this scheme and as per data submitted by different banks operating in the district, a total loan of Rs5308.22 lakhs were sanctioned to the selected 9595 beneficiary of this scheme.

The data was submitted in the meeting of DlCC chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar.

The Bank of India, which is a leading bank in the district, is at the top of the table of sanctioning amount to maximum number of beneficiaries. BOI has sanctioned a total Rs2130 lakhs to 4053 account holders and has already dispersed Rs1448 lakhs to them.

The minimum contribution has been shown by Indian Overseas Bank which has so far dispersed only Rs1.20 lakhs to three account holders while Uco Bank has failed to get its name included in the list as it has yet not sanctioned any loan under the three schemes of Mudra Bank.

In this meeting DC Mukesh Kumar directed the bank officials to provide Kissan Credit Cards to more peasants so that the target of 16,000 KCCs can be achieved. So far 15,810 peasants have applied for KCC and the banks have dispersed a loan Rs7765.2 lakhs to the applicants.

Taking the absence of officials of Indusind Bank in this meeting seriously DC Mukesh Kumar directed all the district and block officials to stop the Government money transaction through this bank. He was apparently annoyed with the bank attitude, that he warned everyone that those found guilty of making transaction with Indusind Bank will be punished.
