Three persons of a family died on Monday late night in Koderma due to poisoning. The deceased persons have been identified as Vinit Bhadani (30), Alka Devi (25) and Shilpi Kumari (20). Their mother Sulochana Devi (54) has also been admitted to RIIMS Ranchi and she was critical after consuming poison in a bid to commit suicide and poisoning her kids.
According to the police Sulochana Devi consumed poison and poisoned her children allegedly because of torture by her in-laws over dowry in Telaiya Police Station. Sulochana’s daughter Alka was married with Amarjit Barhapuria of Jahanabad and she was allegedly tortured by her husband and in-laws for dowry and from December 2013 she was here in Jhumaritelaiya, police said.
In the wee hours of Monday night, she consumed some poisonous substance and poisoned her son and daughters also. Vinit and shilpi were admitted to a private clinic then were taken to Sadar Hospital Koderma where both died and the elder daughter Alka died on way while being taken to Ranchi for better treatment. Sulochana was serious and her condition was deteriorating.
According to KP Yadav Telaiya PS incharge a case was registered on the application of Jagarnath Prasad Husband of Sulochana Devi against Amarjit Barhpuria Husband of daughter Alka Devi, sisters of Amarjit Barhpuria, lakshmi Devi mother of Amarjit Barhapuria and others. According to the residents Alka has given birth to a child just 20 days ago and only Jagarnath Prasad and newly born baby was at home.
