The land bank was unveiled by Chief Minister Raghubar Das a day before the anticipated date of January 5. The bank (2101471.99 acres of land) comprises land under GM Khaas (851947.708 acres), GM Aam (229345.43 acres), GM Forest-Shrubbery (1006072.83 acres), and government lands not in use currently (7173.23 acres). The details of land in each district have been uploaded on each district's website as well.

“land bank would benefit people investing in the State. Now details regarding land would be available district and block wise with just a click. Nodal officers have been appointed in each district to provide information about land and their mobile number besides email ID has been uploaded on the website,” said Das.

Details of land earmarked for industrial activities have been made available for people's scrutiny on a dedicated website  — jharbhoomin.nic.in — which depicts status of land availability in each block of all districts. For the convenience of investors the department of Revenue, Registration and land Reforms has formed various categories of land plots, 1-50 acre; 50-100 acre and above 100 acres. A workshop for nodal officers is also in the offing as Secretary of the department; KK Soan confided that more features are in the offing to ease the visibility of available land on virtual maps.

“We would be linking land with maps. We are talking to JSAC (Jharkhand Space Application Centre) and it would be complete in about one and a half month,” added Soan.

The land bank policy has also inserted the condition that the unused portion of land acquired by a business entity should be returned to the land bank.
