Congress painted the one-year-old BJP-led Government at the Centre as of falsehood and cheater that used slogans just to come to power. The party claimed that despite having got a clear mandate based on tall promises made before the elections, performance of the Government on economic, social and both at domestic and international fronts had slipped in the respect of UPA days.
“Maharaj Narendra Modi’s idiomatic expression Government has completed one year. It is completely a selfie Government that is working on just images. The Prime Minister has donated hefty sums to Mongolia, Bhutan and other countries showing historic connections but has ditched his own farmers back home. He and his Government do not have any assistance or time for the farmers who are committing suicides,” said Congress MP Raj Babbar while addressing the media on Monday.
Congress is on a media conferencing spree on the occasion of the completion of one year in the office of the new Government. Raj Babbar went on saying that whatever positives were around because of 10 years of UPA policies and schemes.
“All of the policies of the UPA were for the last man in the queue. We brought right to food, right to employment, right to information acts to safeguard the common man. But they hurled lucrative slogans and cheated people for their votes. Now after one year, there is no trace of black money, inflation is on high and core sectors have clocked negative growth. Dollar price is going up and stock market has lost over Rs 2 lakh crore,” said the actor turned politician flanked by PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat and other senior leaders of the party.
He also claimed that those giving rousing welcome to Narendra Modi in the US, China or other countries during his foreign trips are “suited-booted people brought for building an image” and termed it as reasons why old BJP man and Commerce Minister in the previous NDA Government Arun Shourie critised the Government for lacking in vision.
“He sung ‘dukh bhare din beete re bhaiya’ on foreign soil. But poor people of Jharkhand, Bihar and most parts of the country are forced to sing, ‘Sajanwa bairee ho gai hamar’. He always carries superrich peoples along like (Gautam) Adani who are seen everywhere and not his ministers on foreign trips,” said Babbar.
Alongside he also questioned the relevance of his recent China visit that, he blamed, could not cut any ice on boundary issue, staple visa and dispute over Arunachal Pradesh outstanding between the two countries.
Explaining nickname ‘Maharaj’ that he attached before the Prime Minister, Raj Babbar alleged Modi for being an autocrat who was one man army and questioned democratic beliefs of the PM who arrogantly took U-turns on FDI in retail and insurance sector after coming into power.
