Giving a blind eye to model code of conduct, the Jamshedpur block development office at Karandih on Thursday conducted a programme distributing cycles to students of Government high schools.
The cycles were distributed by the district welfare department among Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, OBC and minority students. The Block Agriculture Development Officer (BADO), Jay Shankar Prasad distributed the cycles among students. When questioned Prasad said that the programme of distribution of cycles to students was pre decided and it doest not come under the ambit of the model code of conduct.
Meanwhile, as the news of the programme reached East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Amitabh Kaushal, office he soon rushed a team to the venue. He said he has taken the programme on serious note and has already ordered for cancellation of cycle distribution programme immediately and will ensure that all the cycles distributed to the students are returned as soon as possible.
