Unidentified miscreants set ablaze a bike and a JCB machine at the Hindukush stone crusher unit in Manatu village under the Kanke police station in the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday.
The assailants also beat up a man and then fired a few rounds in the air before fleeing away. The police rushed to spot after receiving information and carried out search operation. A large number of police was stationed on the spot to ensure untoward incident.
Ranchi SSP visited the spot on Thursday and held investigation in the incident. He also held discussion with the local villagers to ascertain the persons involved in the incident.
“It not clear that extremist were involved in the crime. In the past a criminals had burnt down properties in the same area. Police nabbed two persons in connection with the incident a few days ago. The incident could be reaction against the police action,” the SSP said.
He added that many villagers of the locality were also opposed to the stone crusher unit their area.
