MGM paramedical students on indefinite hunger strike

State owned MGM Medical College and Hospital’s 200 paramedical students on Wednesday sat on an indefinite hunger strike in front of the district headquarters.

The students enrolled for the two-year paramedical course at MGM Medical College in Dimna as part of their internship at the Sakchi hospital and have been sitting on strike since November 21,  after being ignored by State Health Minister Rajendra Prasad Singh during his visit to the city on November 20 when the students presented their demand for stipend, hostel facility, and guarantee of service on completion of their tenure.

“We have been on strike from past few days but no steps have been taken to address our issues. We are observing hunger strike in protest against lackadaisical attitude of the government towards our demands. The strike will be any eye opener for the Government and push it into working mode as far as conceding the charter of demands is concerned,” said an agitator.
