The capital city of Ranchi touched 40.2 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning. It has been the hottest day of the season in the city, as the sunrays are directly reaching the earth due to which the humidity is lowered. The temperature is crossing the red line and the same condition will continue in coming weeks.

According to the statistics available with the Meteorological Department, the temperature recorded in the previous year on the same day has been around 39.9 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature 24.1 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature of the past season has been recorded around 45.2 degrees Celsius.

“It was the hard day for the people of Ranchi on Saturday as the temperature rises to 40.2 degrees Celsius making it the hottest day of season,” said D Hedau, of the Met Office in Ranchi. He mentioned that the temperature will rise and continue to hover around 43° Celsius in the next three days. The temperature of Jamshedpur will be 44° to 45° and in Daltonganj it will be 46° to 47° Celsius in coming three days.

Environmentalist Nitish Priyadarshi said, “The water bodies have dried up because of industrial purposes and forests are cut down due which there is not much rainfall as it was in earlier days. This is the main reason for rise in temperature in the city.”

“The temperature is rising on its speed. Use of Air Conditioners and coolers is becoming very common. To get some relief from the heat we are drinking soft drinks and avoiding fatty food,” said SM Taslim, a Businessman.

“It is difficult to go out in scorching heat without water, umbrella and scarf. After taking multiple baths also we are not getting rid from extreme heat,” said Sarah Ahmed, a Student.
