Mega women's health camp held in Mango

PNS

The women’s wing of Jharkhand Indian Medical Association and Jamshedpur unit of Indian Medical Association organised a mega women’s health camp at Sahay Research Centre at Transport Nagar in Mango on Sunday. The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amitabh Kaushal and president of women’s wing of IMA Bharati Kashyap were present on the occasion.

Several women underwent screening for detection of ailments including anemia , obese and other diseases. The camp was aimed at providing total healthcare to women.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr Kashyap said that nearly 72,000 Indian women die every year of cervical cancer and if screening for the disease is not taken up on a large scale, the number might go up.

She said early diagnosis was the key to prevention of these unfortunate deaths. The only way to prevent this was to conduct large-scale screening camps and create awareness, she said.

Dr Kashyap said that it is better for women between 25 to 30 years of age to get screened and if detected they can be easily cured.

The cancer is affecting women more in the age group of 18 to 45 years.  By arming ourselves with the knowledge necessary to take responsibility for our health, we can begin to erase this major chapter in the book of women’s health she noted.
