In protest against the attack on doctors of GSVM Medical College at Kanpur, the Jamshedpur medical fraternity on Wednesday lodged their protest at district headquarters.
Sporting black badge in all OPDs, hospitals and clinics, as a symbol of protest against the February 28 incident in which the Samajwadi Party MlA Irfan Solanki along with his supporters had assaulted doctors of GSVM Medical College at Kanpur, the doctors under the banner of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jamshedpur chapter, submitted a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister through East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal.
“We have gathered here to condemn the atrocities on medical fraternity at Uttar Pradesh. As per call by the national body of IMA we will resort to a strike on March 6 and only attend emergency services on humanitarian ground if the demands of Kanpur medicos are not met today,” said IMA Jamshedpur president KP Dubey. Some of the demands of Kanpur medicos include immediate revocation of all charges against the arrested medical students, immediate arrest of Irfan Solanki, a judicial probe into the incident at the level of a working or a retired judge.
The city unit president Mritunjay Singh said that the IMA was aggrieved and anguished over the barbaric acts of anti-social elements. Condemning the spurt of attacks, Indian Medical Association officials said that the regular murders taking place since beginning of the year reflect the ineffectiveness of the police administration.
