PNS

In a bizarre incident here, doctors failed to retrieve bullet from the body of a murder case victim despite their repeated efforts during autopsy. DSP Heeralal Ravi said that Bhupesh Kumar was gunned down as he had resisted the illicit relation of his step mother here under Pandu police station on September 18. During post mortem of Bhupesh shadow of a bullet was seen in the fourth rib the X Ray film said J lakra, one of the doctors of the post mortem team of Sadar Hospital Daltonganj. lakra said, “X Ray film showed the shadow of a bullet in the 4th rib of the deceased.

But dissection did not yield that bullet at all.” He further said the lungs of the deceased were taken out and dissected but here too the bullet was not found.  The deceased was undergone X Ray again but the bullet could not be traced, added doctor lakra. After nearly three hours of autopsy and two X Rays done on the body of Bhupesh the post mortem team comprising doctors namely J lakra, Vishal Gaurav and R K Ranjan gave in writing that the said bullet that caused the death by murder of Bhupesh could not be extracted. Sadar hospital sources said bullets lodged in some part of the body are too difficult to be retrieved or extracted.

According to lakra the family of Bhupesh took back the body after the autopsy for the observance of the last rites. lawyers said the accused side would use this non retrieval of bullet from the body maximum in the court of law to prove the accused of murder innocent. Failure of retrieval of bullet from body strengthens the side of the accused in the court of law as in this case there is more than one assailant and the court is to be convinced that a country made pistol was used. DSP Ravi said that police have arrested and jailed one of the assailants Chandan in this murder case.
