Not many people know that there is a day dedicated to milk called World Milk Day. It falls on every June 1. And World Milk Day 2023 has a theme. It is 'sustainable dairy - good for the planet, good for you'.
Back here at the outskirt to the town Daltonganj a state of art milk processing plant called Medha dairy project is ready to be commissioned.
Aboobacker Siddique P, secretary agriculture, animal husbandry co operative department government of Jharkhand in a communication to the Pioneer said "This plant will be inaugurated shortly."
The month of June is being seen as the commissioning month since this plant has successfully carried all its trials and tests which are very mandated to determine the quality of milk and its products here said the GM of the Jharkhand state co operative milk producers' federation limited Pavan Kumar Marwaha.
Sources said this Medha dairy project is not only a milk processing plant but it is also a source of livelihood to a large number of people.
Daltonganj market is not untouched by synthetic milk. At times like Diwali many sweet outlets come up across the roads selling milk products.
Some random samples of milk products are seized for tests by food inspector or magistrate vested with power but public in general never know about its test report.
Sources said adulterated milk which is made of water, pulverized detergent and soap, sodium hydroxide, vegetable oil, salt and urea etc is highly hazardous to health and strikes kidney most.
There is no organisation in Jharkhand to raise the menace to the adulterated milk said sources.
