Ranchi police on Wednesday arrested the mastermind of Chutia robbery case in which cash and jewellery worth Rs 18 lakh were looted from a businessmen’s house by eight to 10 armed robbers on August 4.
Following a tip-off, Ranchi Police nabbed Vishal Sinha from his resident in Doranda. Vishal is said to have hatched the plan with Nikki Sharma to seek revenge from Indrajit Singh who has lent Rs 1 lakh to Vishal and was charging Rs 10,000 as interest towards the loan. Vishal had pledged his SX4 car as security for the repayment of loan.
Sharma has already been arrested in connection with the case. Vishal is also said to have criminal antecedents and has been sent to jail in few cases. “Vishal met Nikki Sharma in the jail and developed close relations him. When they came out they hatched the plan to teach a lesson to Singh,” said City SP Manoj Ratan Chouthey.
According to the City SP, Vishal has borrowed money from Singh to secure bail for his father and mother who incidentally are in jail for alleged involvement in a land dispute. As per the conspiracy, Vishal received around Rs 1.50 lakh of the total loot. Notably, the Police recovered around Rs 1 lakh from the possession of Vishal. “He would have probably spent rest of the amount,” added City SP. Ranchi Police have confirmed that except one all other accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
