Ranchi and other parts of Jharkhand would be under siege as around 30 organisations are likely to hit streets with thousands of supporters on December 29 to put the State on standstill and force the government to fulfil to their demand for a domicile policy. Even before the band, the organisations behind the call have held the government would be responsible for the ire of agitators.

The band has been primarily called by the Adivasi Jan Parishad as another prominent group, Adivasi-Moolwasi Janadhikar Manch, also jumped the protest bandwagon besides several student organisations who would also be taking part in the massive agitation.

“The Government must not play with our sentiments. November 15 was the date assured by the Government for implementing domicile policy yet that did not happen. We would like to caution that anything could happen on that day because of simmering dissent among the adivasis,” said chairman of Adivasi Jan Parishad, Prem Sahi Munda.

The band would be supported by associations based in other cities also, confided the head of Adivasi Jan Parishad, even as more associations would be asked to join the agitation. Notwithstanding the inconvenience to the people and resultant violence, the main association behind the band described the agitation as their constitutional right while it dodged the responsibility of violent behaviour of the mob that would hit the street.
