Market across the city responded cautiously on day one of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, very much in line with markets across the country. Most of the Single Brand Outlets (SBOs) of apparel, electronics, home furniture and other segments saw the shops not as much crowded with customers as few days ago, when they came up with pre-GST sale.
Apparel stores took most of the benefits from pre-GST sale, as apparel was out of any tax bracket earlier. “The store was full of customers earlier this week during pre-GST sale. Though it existed for today also in our store, footfall is not as compared to last days,” said a sales representative in Planet Fashion store at Main Road.
“Actually, the entire market has gone through much deliberations for GST and shopkeepers are going to see the reaction of overall market. So, market remain dull for another a couple of days from now,” said former FJCCI president Pawan Sharma.
