The last day of financial year 2014-15 might be one of the toughest days for bankers, Government departments and others related to financial institutions, but this year it was equally tough for State BJP unit that has fallen short of 20 lakh people to be added in the membership drive by the end of the month.
Though the figures have not been made official, according to sources, the party has recruited 30 lakh members by the end of March 2015 in Jharkhand. The party had set a target of 50 lakh members in the State earlier but after looking at the shortfall it has given a month’s extension to the cadres and workers.
The issue was also discussed in the Core Committee meeting of the party here on Tuesday and senior leaders opined that the office bearers and workers will make best use of the one month extension to make maximum members and contribute to the national target of 10 crore members set by the party to become the world’s largest political party beating the Communist Party of China.
“We have already crossed the figure of 30 lakh and this is a historic achievement for the state unit. Earlier also, party unit had tried to give momentum to membership campaign but the results were not very encouraging. This time we have done excellent work in a short period of three months,” said In-charge of membership drive in Jharkhand and Rajmahal MlA Anant Ojha.
Ojha further said that the party cadres and officials are enthusiastically working to complete the target through their own connections, including inter-personal and other means of communication. “We are more than confident that the target will be achieved within the stipulated time,” he said.
State Party Spokesperson Pradeep Sinha also said that the extension of one month will be fully utilised by party workers to complete the target of 50 lakh members and contribute to the national target of 10 crore.
Meanwhile, the issue was discussed in detail at the BJP Core Committee meeting where party president Amit Shah’s meeting with party cadres involved in the membership drive in the April 11 Workers Conference was dwelt upon. Senior leaders of the party expressed that the national president’s visit will give a boost to workers’ confidence in completion of the 50 lakh mission.
