Panchayat Bhavan at Neywari near Daihi Moroop in latehar has been blown up by CPI Maoists this Friday morning at 3 am, revealed sources. The Bhavan is in total ruins. SP latehar Anup Birtharey has confirmed that this destruction was carried out by the Maoists.
Birtharey said that the Maoists were led by Deepak Sharwan and Virender. The Maoists struck at 3 am on Friday. The place of occurrence is on Herhunj Balumath road and about 20 Kms off latehar police station.
Two IEDs were planted to bring down this Government building. The Maoists planted IEDs near the pillar and on its blast the roof came down. There is no loss of any human life nor of any livestock.
Birtharey said the Maoists had shown their aberration. This panchayat bhavan was in operation since 2011. There was no any issue related to it. Just this Friday morning the Maoists devastated it. Birtharey attributed this destruction by Maoists as a mindless act except the one in which they wanted to have their presence felt.
‘Maoists zinda hain . Yeh unko deykhana thha. Aur yeh bhavan unka shikar hogaya’ reiterated SP latehar.
When reminded that this bhavan proved a soft target for Maoists as it was set up away from human populace to which Birtharey said ‘ This panchayat bhavan was working since 2011 and never in all these years this was ever targeted by the Maoists and this Friday bombing or land mining of it was just enigmatic as it did not serve any of their purpose except that this episode would be referred to the Maoists’.
Extremely critical and distasteful of what the Maoists did with this public utility government building panchayat bhavan SP latehar said ‘ This is Maoists way of telling the commoners of their presence little realizing that such inane act of them further erodes their base which is already on the wane and in order to set up an environ of fear and terror the Maoists have done this’.
Maoists also set afire the generator set of Airtel tower in the contiguity.
The twin strike of the Maoists have alerted the latehar police as the strike goes to prove their presence in the area which was free of their influence in all these two to three years time.
Police have registered a case said SP latehar.
