A group of Maoists late on Friday night abducted two persons from Mundaguda village in Kamarpalli panchayat under Mathili block in Malkangiri district suspecting them to be police informers.
Around 15-20 armed rebels stormed into the village and took away Sina Madhi and Dambaru Sagadia from their houses.
However, Sina Madhi later managed to escape from the ultras’ captivity.
The Maoists had asked the abducted villagers to accompany them. When they resisted, they were assaulted and forcibly taken away. Their family members tried to protest, but in vain.
The villagers, including the family members, have launched a search for the abducted persons.
After getting information, police reached the spot and launched a search operation to trace the abducted ones.
Notably, around 25 persons have been abducted by the members of the outlawed groups in the last two months in the district.
They were allegedly beaten up by the ultras on suspicion of being police informers.
It may be recalled that two villagers were gunned down by the ultras on Thursday at Kanagoda area under the Kalimela police limits in the district.
On October 3, another villager, Arjun Khara, from Kandhaguda village was shot dead by the rebels.
