Coming down heavily on the incidents of scuffle and reports about widespread mismanagement at RIMS, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that a dedicated management was the need of the hour to run the affairs at the hospital. He also cited management system in place at the Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur to and hinted working on that line.
“Doctors should concentrate only on treatment and care of patients coming to RIMS not only from Jharkhand but also neighboring states. The institute should become pride of the State and not shame. Management and monitoring of their food, wards, sanitation, water etc are not their job. That is why the Government has put in place an IAS officer as Director here who would look into general affairs,” said Das while opening paying ward at the premier medical institute on Thursday.
The CM, on the occasion, also tried to infuse a sense of humanity and responsibility towards poor in the society into the doctors of the institute and warned them against conducting private practice at the cost of their duty to the medical institute. He also verbally burst against the private hospitals and pathology centres operating in large numbers around RIMS and ordered to shut those down.
“I am silently gathering inputs which suggest that several doctors of RIMS are practising at private nursing homes mushroomed nearby. Close all those! You (doctors) are paid handsomely by the tax collected from common people and if it is less then would are ready to pay more. You should serve poor with full sincerity as duty towards humanity. This would give you peace of mind which is not possible by amassing wealth,” he added.
Talking about recent protest there, the CM also warned the medical and nursing staffs against organising strikes costing dearly to the patients and directed RIMS administration to regulate entries of visitors to their patients admit into wards by fixing timing for them. Besides, the CM also ordered removal of roadside shops from inside the campus and placing sufficient number of dustbins to maintain cleanliness.
