lord Buddha will spread the message of peace among the devotees of Maa Durga in Ranchi this year. The people of the city will be able to take the blessings of both Maa Durga and lord Buddha at the Ranchi Railway Station Durga Puja pandal.
This year the puja pandal at Ranchi Railway Station is taking the shape on the theme of Incredible India. The people of the city will start their journey from the replica of a mela and by crossing an artificial bridge to reach the main pandal where an idol lord Buddha will be welcoming them by the message of peace. Two Chinese dragons will also be seen on both sides of lord Buddha.
“It would be based on the Rath Mela, having a temple made of pots and containing different entertaining factors like moving puppets,” said Munchun Rai, president of the Ranchi Railway Station Puja Committee.
He further added, “The main pandal will be 40ft high and 60ft wide in which a 12ft idol of Maa Durga will be seen slaughtering a Chinese dragon depicting the demon. The total budget for this year’s Puja is Rs16 to Rs18 lakhs”
The 20ft lord Buddha’s idol, totally made from brass will be the main attraction for the people of the city this time. “The idol of lord Buddha will be 20ft high and will be made of brass items of the Puja samagri used during the Puja for e.g. Brass plate, diya etc and the Chinese dragons will also be made of brass sheets” said Chandan Maithi an artist involved in making the pandal at the Ranchi Railway Station.”The pandal will contain maximum work of ply and brass. The cloth that will be used in making the pandal will be having lord Buddha picture inscribed on it,” he added.
A team of 35 members from Haldia, West Bengal are working on this project for the last two months. Out of them10 members are working from their home in Haldia and providing the structures made of brass from there itself.
The Railway Station Durga Puja Committee has been organizing the Puja for more than 50 years but from the last 4 to 5 years it has became one of the most popular Puja pandals of the city. The devotees of the city go expecting something new every year to Puja Pandal at the Ranchi Railway Station and this year also the Puja pandal at the Railway Station is ready to offer something new to people of the city.
