Demanding of the status of special State, the bandh affected the district partially.

The members of AJSU and JVM tried to make the bandh successful and took rounds of the city on their bikes . The long distance transportation in vehicles like — trucks and the bauxite loading — was disrupted while the big shops, petrol pumps and medicine shops remained open. The police arrested many AJSU members during the protest. They also tried to stop the trains but their efforts went in vain.

AJSU district head Saana Ullah, Shishir Toppo, Ishwari Mohan Sharma, Sazzad Khan, Almin Ansari, and Suraj Agarwal said that the State is still deprived of the status of special State inspite of fulfilling all the criterias for it. Due to the bandh the common man had to suffer a lot whereas policemen seemed to be alert at every chowk.
