In the light of the decision of the State Government to theme the upcoming Jharkhand Foundation Day on November 15 as M-governance month, the Department of IT along with NASSCOM and others would organise ‘Aadhaar Hackathon’.
It would an ‘app marathon’ aimed to encourage development of applications for utilising Aadhaar based services or APIs. Officials of the Department informed that the ‘Aadhaar Hackathon’ would be organised on November 2 and 3 in Ranchi. “In the run up of the hackathon
‘10,000 Start ups’ and ‘366Pi’, a start up based out of Ranchi would announce a logo contest. Representatives from 366Pi & NASSCOM 10,000 Startups will help us to organise ‘Aadhaar Hackathon’ to engage various developer communities. These communities will further help to create, share and develop mobile apps and hence, contributing to the Aadhaar eco-system,” said an official of IT department.
‘Aadhaar Hackathon’ is expected to create an opportunity to connect communities with industry experts and foster a start-up culture. Notably Chief Minister Raghubar Das had launched mobile governance logo, portal and mobile app for the foundation day celebrations on September 15.
Jharkhand is one of the leading States in Aadhaar based enablement and adoption.
Government has deployed various projects which use Aadhaar for marking state wide attendance, payment system, eKYC processes, public distribution system, monitoring mid-day meal and nay more.
“The aim of the Aadhaar hackathon is to encourage and promote the development of applications that utilise the open Aadhaar APIs. Events like these will empower communities for start up. The logo competition is to engage citizens towards the mega event on November 15,” he added.
