Town police today saved a grimy situation on the premise of the civil court here today when fracas broke out between the lawyers and a senior judge Pankaj Kumar here.
President of the Palamu Bar Association Sachhidanand Nehru said, “We the lawyers today boycotted the court of Judge Pankaj Kumar. We will continue to do so unless the Jharkhand High Court steps in and take stern action against this judge.”
Nehru further said the concerned judge has no respect for the Bar here. He further said the concerned judge sits late in the court room and delays most inordinately in passing orders even in those cases where arguments are complete and over.
Nehru further alleged the judge mishandled him in the court premise also. He said the Jharkhand High Court Ranchi must inquire into this episode and remove the judge from here.
Bar Association president further added, “From coming Monday no lawyer will attend judge Pankaj Kumar's court till HC Ranchi hears our side of version and acts promptly.”
SDPO Sandip Kumar Gupta said town police are keeping a close watch on this episode. Police did all that it could have done to avert the situation from going any worse.
Till the time of filing of this report no written complaint was filed by the lawyers.
Gupta said a petition was tried to be handed down to town police without the name of the applicant which the police refused to acknowledge citing technical reasons as no complaint in writing can be any anonymous but it must carry full name and address of the complainant.
